THE BRIEF
The SportsBall is an annual fundraising event for the charity SportsAid, supporting and celebrating aspiring British athletes and helping them achieve their ambitions.
Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Cambridge (as she was then) becoming Sports Aid’s patron, publicly pledging her support to the charity.
The challenge for the event was to highlight the importance of guests’ ongoing support, and how it makes a difference to the lives of these aspiring athletes.
EXPERIENCE
Having developed the theme ‘I will be next’ in 2012, showcasing what each SportsAid athlete is prepared to give to British Sport, it was fitting to continue this theme into 2013. We were now able to highlight the princess’ commitment to the charity, asking guests, "What will you give?"
The event gave athletes the opportunity to showcase their sports and meet with guests, who were then able to ‘have a go’ at these sports after dinner, learning from the experts.
Hosted by John Inverdale, the event combined unique fundraising ideas, live and silent auctions, interviews with Olympians, sponsorship management and engaging VT content, as well as providing celebrity hosts. Not forgetting, of course, the full management of HRH’s requirements, her team and media.
